Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency that runs on blockchain technology, which is a system that records all transactions across a network of computers. People use Bitcoin as a way to send and receive value to anyone in the world, regardless of country borders. To use Bitcoin, all you need is a computer/phone with internet connection. 
One of the many ways Bitcoin is unique is due to its decentralization.  Rather than being managed by one single entity, like a traditional bank, government, or company- it is controlled by a network of nodes around the world. This allows for truly ‘peer-to-peer’ transactions because there is no need for any third party oversight.

Bitcoin is a global phenomenon!

Bitcoin is a great store of value because of its scarcity. Unlike government-backed currencies, Bitcoin has a fixed inflation rate with a maximum supply. Only 21,000,000 Bitcoins will ever exist.

Bitcoin was created in 2009, right after the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. It is designed to revolutionize finance and how everyone views money. The story of Bitcoin is still relatively unknown. It was created by an anonymous figure that goes by “Satoshi Nakamoto”. (If you take a close look at our logo, you can see that it depicts an anonymous person holding coffee, thus explaining our name “Satoshi’s Sip”)

What is Bitcoin Beach?

Originally just a small fishing village, Bitcoin Beach (also known as El Zonte) is a town on the coast of El Salvador that has broken barriers by becoming the first to test a sustainable Bitcoin economic system. In El Salvador, considering that it is still a developing country, a lot of people do not have access to bank accounts. Because of this, local businesses and individuals have had limitations in their abilities to save money, as well as participate in the increasingly digitized economic world. For years, this was the simple reality for most people in El Salvador…..that was until Bitcoin revolutionized finance forever.

Fast forward to today, and now the people of El Zonte have a way to combat these limitations of the traditional fiat world, by using Bitcoin to empower these unbanked individuals and businesses!

Bitcoin Beach Social Projects - The Hope House
As the Bitcoin Beach project started to gain traction and popularity, a strong community was formed. One of the many positive results of this community is the increased attention on the kids native to El Zonte! The rise of social projects in the area have given these kids an increased opportunity for education and fun!
Hope House El Salvador is the social project available to support these young Bitcoiners! They’re on a mission to “promote the positive and sustainable transformation of the community of El Zonte in El Salvador, strengthening its well-being through the integration of four fundamental pillars: Spirituality, Education, Recreation, and Community Support.”

How can I ensure that my coffee stays fresh?

There are a few steps you can take to keep your beans fresh and avoid flavor loss. The first step is keeping your beans sealed and keeping oxygen out of the bag. Every single Satoshi’s Sip bag is equipped with an oxygen valve and arrives heat sealed.

Next, you want to keep the container in a place that avoids direct sunlight and other temperature fluctuations. This will keep the beans at a consistent temperature and help them preserve their flavor. After that, you want to make sure your beans are not next to strong-smelling items- as coffee easily absorbs odors. Finally, to ensure maximum freshness, it is recommended that you grind your beans just before brewing to guarantee the strongest flavor.

Can I track my package?

Yes, once your order is fulfilled, you will receive a shipping confirmation email. Within that email you will be given a tracking number. We use USPS as our shipping service, so you can expect your package to arrive in 2-5 business days after the order has been processed.

Satoshi’s Sip operates in the DMV (Washington DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia) region. The short answer is “yes” - there will be opportunities to buy our coffee in person. However, it will likely only be limited to our area.

Satoshi’s Sip is active on numerous social media platforms and will keep our followers updated on where/when we are selling!

What is the shelf life for your coffee beans?

The shelf life for our coffee beans is determined by when the coffee beans are roasted. In the sealed packaging, your beans will last for around 3 months or longer depending on the environment the beans are stored in. If the package is already opened, the beans will last about a month before the flavor begins to weaken.
